Coordinator
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) 2024-25,
Maitreyi College, University of Delhi
My contributions towards the college during 2024-25 were as follows:
1. As IQAC Coordinator:
i. In my capacity as IQAC Coordinator, we recognized the urgent need to equip faculty members with cutting-edge tools and insights in the rapidly evolving pedagogies. To ensure our faculty remains at the forefront of academic and technological advancement—and to support their career progression under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS)—I spearheaded a strategic collaboration with UGC-MMTTC (Madan Mohan Malaviya Teacher Training Centre), SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi. I was instrumental in initiating and formalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Maitreyi College and UGC-MMTTC, paving the way for meaningful, future-focused academic collaborations and faculty development initiatives.
ii. Under the above MoU, as Convenor, I organised a one-week National Faculty Development Programme on “Reinventing Pedagogy in the Age of AI: methods, approaches and perspectives” from 16-22 January, 2025, with the aim of equipping educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving educational landscape shaped by artificial intelligence. The integration of AI into teaching and learning processes is no longer optional—it is essential. Recognizing this urgent need, the program was designed to foster critical dialogue, promote innovation in pedagogical practices, and empower faculty members to effectively adapt and lead in this transformative era. Through this initiative, I sought to position Maitreyi College at the forefront of academic excellence and progressive education reform.
iii. Under the framework of the aforementioned MoU, I served as a core team member representing Maitreyi College and successfully co-organized the 'NEP Orientation and Sensitization Programme' in collaboration with UGC-MMTTC from 2nd to 11th December 2024. The programme aimed to deepen understanding and facilitate effective implementation of the National Education Policy among faculty members.
iv. As Convenor, I organized a talk and interactive session featuring officials from India Post on 2nd December 2024, specifically tailored for both teaching and non-teaching staff, to enhance awareness of postal services and related opportunities.
v. To foster a culture of academic excellence and motivation among students, IQAC has instituted the ‘Meritorious Student Award’ starting this year. The award will be conferred during the Annual Day celebration to recognize outstanding academic performance. A total of nine students—one each from the Sciences, Commerce, and Humanities streams across the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years—will be selected for this honour. I played a pivotal role in conceptualizing, initiating, and overseeing the formal establishment of this award, ensuring that every aspect of the process aligned with IQAC's vision of promoting student achievement and holistic development.
vi. Recognizing the importance of acknowledging faculty members for their multifaceted contributions—academic, administrative, and beyond—IQAC instituted the ‘Faculty Excellence Awards’ to celebrate and incentivize their dedication. Screening for these awards will be done following the UGC guidelines (CAS-2018) to evaluate professional achievements. Additionallly, it will also take into account each faculty member’s broader contribution to institutional growth. The awards will be conferred during the Annual Day celebration every year, reinforcing a culture of appreciation and professional motivation. I have been deeply involved in this initiative since its inception, playing a key role in its conceptualization and successful implementation.
vii. As part of IQAC’s ongoing efforts to enhance administrative efficiency, a key initiative introduced this academic year is the digital submission of APARs (Annual Performance Appraisal Reports) by faculty members through Google Forms. This shift to a soft-copy, online format is aimed at streamlining the CAS (Career Advancement Scheme) process, ensuring greater accuracy, accessibility, and ease of record-keeping. I have played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and implementing this initiative, which marks a significant step toward digitization and institutional best practices.
2. As Co-convenor of Centre for Research:
i. As Managing Editor of our international peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary, open access e-journal, Vantage: Journal of Thematic Analysis, published by the Centre for Research, we successfully published two issues of the journal viz. Volume 5, Issue 2 (October 2024 issue), and Volume 6, Issue 1 (April, 2025 issue). Both these issues were on the theme ‘Systems of Knowledge in India: Moving towards self-reliance’.
ii. As the Managing Editor of Vantage: Journal of Thematic Analysis, I played a pivotal role in achieving a significant milestone in the journal’s journey. Beginning with the April 2025 issue, Vantage transitioned to the globally recognized OJS-PKP (Open Journal Systems–Public Knowledge Project) platform, marking a major leap forward in its professionalization. This shift introduced an integrated online submission and peer review system, reinforcing our commitment to academic transparency, editorial integrity, and ethical publishing practices. The move not only streamlines operations but also enhances the journal’s accessibility and credibility on the international platform.
iii. As co-convenor of CFR I was involved in conceptualization and launch of Prashikshuta, a collaborative internship and research initiative for undergraduate and postgraduate students from outside the college. Students who are interested in research can take up research projects under the mentorship of college faculty. The program is designed to enhance Maitreyi College’s position as a center for professional development and inclusive academic collaboration
