Dr. Matthew McFadden - GDIT Cyber Director

As GDIT’s Cyber Director and chief of GDIT’s Cyber Center of Excellence, Dr. Matthew McFadden spearheads cyber strategy for the Federal/Civilian, Defense, National Security, and the Intelligence divisions and develops advanced cyber capabilities and offerings to solve customer mission challenges.

He serves as the senior technology director which includes developing cyber services, technical capabilities, and leads GDIT’s Cyber Center of Excellence championing GDIT’s Cyber Partners/Alliances. As Director of Cyber he leads Cyber Capabilities in Risk Assessment, Cloud Security, Vulnerability Assessment, IR/Forensics, Threat Hunting, Cyber Analytics, Endpoint, Network Security, Security Operations, Threat Intelligence, Cyber Training, Adaptive Cyber Defense, and specialized focus areas of Automation & Orchestration and AI/ML applications in Cyber.

As an industry recognized expert, most recently, Dr. McFadden served as Chief Technologist in the Defense division as part of CSRA, providing technology leadership and innovation to customers in the Department of Defense. There, he also supported CSRA's Defense Cyber Crime Center's (DC3) program for the past nine years along with other programs across Defense such as milCloud 2.0 and DISA’s ESS programs and served in numerous roles as lead engineer/architect.

Prior to his tenure at CSRA, Dr. McFadden drove technical leadership and cyber strategy in the company’s legacy cyber practice with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) as a Distinguished Engineer in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer.

Dr. McFadden received his Doctorate of Computer Science in Information Assurance from Colorado Technical University. He is also a published author, presenter, and researcher, and holds numerous industry IT certifications. Dr. McFadden was the team captain of GDIT’s winning Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition Pro teams (2016 2017, and 2018).
