Dr. Zhonghua Liu is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at Columbia University. His research develops statistical foundations for causal inference in complex biological systems, integrating statistical theory, genomics, and AI.

His independent research program began at the University of Hong Kong (2018–2022) and has since expanded at Columbia University, with a focus on causal genomics, large-scale inference, and AI-driven scientific discovery. Prior to academia, he worked as a quantitative strategist at Morgan Stanley in New York, developing statistical and machine learning methods for large-scale financial data.

He is the Principal Investigator of an NIH R01 award and an Associate Editor for leading journals in statistics and biostatistics. He received his Sc.D. in Biostatistics from Harvard University in 2015 under the supervision of Dr. Xihong Lin.
