Sojung Lee is a talented classical pianist, chamber performer, and arranger of hymns and church music from South Korea. With a passion for both performing and teaching, she brings a wealth of experience to every stage and classroom.
Sojung earned a scholarship to Chung-Ang University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in piano performance, studying with esteemed teachers Okbin Lim, Hyekyung Lee, and Chiho Cho. She continued her studies at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, where she earned both her Master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees, studying under celebrated pianists Min Kwon, William Wolfram, and Daniel Epstein.
Throughout her career, Sojung has performed in renowned venues like Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. She has also shared her music in local churches, libraries, and nursing homes in the Greater New York area. Her love for collaboration has led her to perform with chamber groups like Trio Fontēs, Voce Con Trio, and with the Harlem Quartet.
Sojung’s accomplishments include winning the Grand Prize at the Korean Christian Association Piano Competition and competing in the Chamber Music Honors Competition at Rutgers University. She has also participated in special musical events such as Mendelssohn’s 200th birth year celebration at New York University and the premieres of "New Music by Five Georgian Composers" in New York. She has also worked with the Yun-Sei Chamber Choir, the Philomusica Concert Choir, the Adelphi Orchestra, and the Hub City Opera and Dance Company as an accompanist.
As a dedicated educator, Sojung’s pedagogical approach combines classical technique with innovative methods, tailored to fit each student’s learning style. She believes in nurturing both technical skills and a love for music, guiding students from beginners to advanced levels. Her experience as a certified Piano Marvel teacher allows her to integrate technology into lessons, making learning engaging and interactive.She is also an active member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Music Educators Association of NJ.
With her deep commitment to music and education, Sojung continues to inspire both audiences and students alike.
