Enrollment is Improving This Year!
Federal Hocking Local School District Short Term Goals
Currently, our 5 year forecast shows we are on track to have a deficit of 1.4 million by the year 2029. By Fiscal year 2026, we will have a deficit of $319,576.
Goal: By fiscal year 2026, FH will reduce spending by $500,000 to make progress towards reducing our deficit.
Currently, our district report card is scored as a 2 star out of 5 stars.
Goal: By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, FH school district will be rated a 3 star out of 5 stars.
Goal Number 1: Reduce spending
The chart below shows our deficit spending over the next 5 years. We are currently spending 85% of our budget on staffing.
The second chart shows we have lost 263 students since 2020. That is more students than our largest school. We averaged a loss of 63 students per year from 2020 to 2024. This school year (2024-2025), we are only down 10 students from the previous year. This is a good sign. Moving forward, It will be my recommendation to align our staff with our current student population to ensure the district is in better financial standing in the coming years.
Goal Number 2: Increase Academic Success
As mentioned above, FH is currently sitting in the bottom 13% of Ohio schools when it comes to Value Added (Growth). We have one school in the bottom 10% in value added. The focus on academic improvement this year is to help prevent FH from ever being at risk of closure from the state.
As superintendent, I am focused on making sure FH is open and thriving into the future. I ask for your help in achieving these goals and understanding as to why I am making the decisions I am making.
The Senior Project
The class of 2025 (current seniors) will complete the senior project as originally planned.
The class of 2026 and beyond will have the option of completing a senior project and will be encouraged and supported if they so choose.
Any student choosing to complete a senior project from the class of 2026 and beyond will receive a graduation cord signifying their commitment to going above and beyond the minimum standards.
