Want to pressure wash your driveway?

Read these 5 tips!

Getting your driveway -or any surface you want- looking spick and span has never been easier with a pressure washer. However, just as with any procedure, taking a few measures to protect the surrounding areas of your property from damage and make the final result seem more professional is always a good move.

By putting the following tips in practice, you’ll not only get the most out of your pressure washing job, but you’ll have a better time, too.

With all that said, let’s get started:

  1. Take some time to sweep the surface beforehand: The best way to achieve a good canvas for the pressure washer is by sweeping the floor to ensure that any dirt or dust on the surface of your bases is removed. Sweep from side-to-side and do not forget about corners!

  1. Protect nearby walls and doors: You don’t want your walls and doors to look like a complete mess after you’re done pressure washing your driveway - that would ruin the whole final look! Therefore, covering them with plastic sheeting and tape is a good idea, especially if there’s a lot of debris to wash off.

  1. Check for the safety of the pressure washing team you hired: Thoroughly watch over for large and relatively durable surfaces your contractor, how they assembly their equipment, and most importantly, if they’re safe with both your property and themselves. Remember: it’s never too late to change your mind if you’re not sure about it!

  1. Degrease the surface: This is one of the most important tips we can give you. Like dissolves like in chemistry, and that’s why your pressure washer won’t be able to wash off those stains of motor oil - because water does not dissolve oil. Therefore, you have to safely remove the grease from the surface with a degreaser spray and scrub with a stiff brush.

  1. Seal the concrete after you’ve done pressure washing: After the pressure washing job, your concrete will be pretty sensitized. But you can protect it by applying a waterproof sealer, which will not only make your concrete look better, but it’ll make your pressure washing job last longer. After you’ve used it, wait 24 hours before driving and parking in your fresh & clean driveway.
