Drinan Hall Reopened 19th March 1958

Wallaville :- A record crowd attended the reopening of Drinan Hall. Even with extension additions the hall was packed.

The additions included additions to servery, a full length annexe fitted with tables for supper and cards, and extensive window fitted with roller blinds. Ample seating accommodation has also been fitted.

The opening ceremony was performed by Cr Innes, who complimented the hall committee on the outcome of their efforts and all members who comprised the working bee.

Mr Innes also spoke of the community spirit that exists and which has always been an outstanding feature of this district.

Mr Innes complimented the women of the district whose efforts went to make Drinan dances the most popular in the district.

Other speaker included Mr R Seesink (chairman), Mr R Kenzler (secretary). Mr H Clough moved a vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Innes.

The Monte Carlo was won by Mr Len Hoffstetter and Miss Fay Walker. Ticket prize to Mr W Chapman and Luck Spots to Mr Len Mansfield and Miss Lena Hoffstetter, Mr Clive Stone and Miss Wendy Graham.

Mrs Nielsen’s orchestra supplied the music.
