Renaissance High School (RHS) in Detroit, Michigan, was founded in 1978 on the former site of Catholic Central High School. It quickly built a reputation for rigorous academics, high graduation rates, and producing influential leaders.
Renaissance graduated its first class in 1981. Formal alumni efforts began crystallizing in the late 1980s and 1990s as early graduates reached professional maturity.
The primary mission of the alumni framework has always leaned heavily on mentorship and academic advancement. Since 100% of Renaissance graduates are historically college-bound, the alumni network focuses on:
• Providing scholarships for graduating seniors
• Mentoring current students
• Funding extracurricular activities.
• Providing opportunities for alumni to network and stay connected.
The strength of the RHS alumni network is best seen through the success of its members, who have carried their RHS Phoenix pride and excellence throughout their lives, and who regularly return to the school for career days and panel discussions, sports, and more.
