Prof. Dr GNANASEKARAN THANGAVEL
Prof. Dr. Gnanasekaran Thangavel is well known icon in the academic fraternity. Dr Gnanasekaran Thangavel was awarded “DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD” for Achievement in Academics and Research from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) during 26th January 2014. He has received Cognizant Best Faculty Award in the year 2018.
Dr.Gnanasekaran Thangavel studied at Vellore Engineering College (now VIT) and received the B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in May 1989 from the Madras University, Madras. He received Master Degree in Information Technology in June 2002 from Bharathidasan University Trichy, and he also received the M.E. degree in Applied Electronics in June 2004 from the Anna University, Chennai. He received his PhD degree for the title “Performance Analysis of Forward Error Correction Techniques for Broadband Wireless Technology” in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Chennai in May 2010.
Dr.Gnanasekaran Thangavel has published more than 140 national and international journals and Conferences. He is recognized supervisor for Anna University. He has guided four Ph.D Scholars and currently he is guiding three PhD scholars. He has organized many conferences, Symposiums, Seminars and Faculty Development programmes. He is also reviewer for many international journal and conferences. He is also doing consultancy services to various industry problems.
He has 31 years of teaching experience and 14 years of research experience. Presently he is working as Professor and Head in the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, R.M.K. Engineering College (An autonomous) , Chennai. His areas of research include Wireless communications and Networks, Digital Communication, Image processing, Cloud Computing, Grid Computing and VLSI design.
Previously Dr. Gnanasekaran had worked as Associate Professor in Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Sathyamangalam, TamilNadu, India. Before joining at Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (An autonomous), he had worked as Assistant Professor at K S R Engineering College, Tiruchengode.
