Welcome to my personal website
I am a senior lecturer at the Department of Technology and Entrepreneurship Education and a warranted mechanical engineer with a specialisation in design science and user experience. My academic journey, including a Ph.D. (2017) and M.Sc. by research (2013) from the University of Malta, has shaped my commitment to interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
Since my appointment as lecturer at the University of Malta in 2019, my research has shifted towards improving the student learning experience through technology integration and innovative approaches to constructionist learning. My work lies at the intersection of Design Science & Technology, Cognitive Processes & Emotion, and Teaching & Learning. I investigate how design methods and emerging technologies, such as Augmented Reality and Computer Aided Design, can enhance educational practices and support teachers in creating engaging learning environments. At the same time, I explore how cognitive factors and emotional responses influence decision-making and learning outcomes.
I believe that blending diverse fields offers new insights into complex challenges, and I have been involved in numerous collaborative projects with researchers and stakeholders from various disciplines. Please refer to my Projects page for further details.
Design theory and its application with a focus on design methods in education and student-centred learning design.
User experience, with focus on human emotion and cognitive process of emotion.
The integration of technology in learning environments with focus on constructionism.
My research areas bridge design science and technology, cognitive-emotional processes, and teaching and learning
