Maker Ed Reflection
Our class has recently explored many of the themes synonymous with Maker Education. For example, we toured the Makerspace at the Science Library and experimented with virtual reality goggles, three-dimensional printing, and building circuits that have a wide range of functions. I personally enjoyed using these circuits again in a later class in which we assembled the circuits to power a small fan. While these experiences were quite fun, I think many students are still struggling with the true definition of Maker Education and its origins. According to the Makerspace for Education website, http://www.makerspaceforeducation.com/why-makerspace.html, Makerspace builds on constructivist ideology to create a creative learning environment with a technology-centric focus.
