Nothing can come between a boy and his dog. Sometimes, not even death.
Since the day she came back to Joel, Sunny’s ghost has been going through some changes: hair falling out, teeth elongating, eyes becoming fiery vortexes… But it must be her, right? Otherwise, what is she?
It’s not until he meets a young male witch (not a warlock) who claims they share a connection, that Joel begins to suspect something just may be up. To find the truth, Joel must first reconcile not only with the mysterious Fontaine’s likely selfish aims, but the looming memory of his overbearing mother, the cult she founded consisting of people blinded in a solar eclipse, and his own addiction to toxic online forums that have destroyed his ability to not be a creep toward any woman within staring distance. Poor Joel—he just wants love, and if he can’t learn to love himself, could he find it with whatever the hell his little dog has become? Does anyone smell sulfur?
SUNNY is a madcap, terrifying trip along with a kaleidoscopic cast of freaks and weirdos: men’s rights activists, witches, podcasts hosts and influencers, ghost hunters, aging guys in middle management—and considers just what could have happened to that young boy to make him go and do such a thing? Answers, of sorts, lie within.
