Drew began her research as a result of the challenges she faced from the lack of a traditional darkroom for the high school photography classes she teaches. Drew utilized Action Research to investigated how to incorporate analog photography techniques into a fully digital classroom. Drew not only developed integrated strategies for teaching photographic processes, but taught students about the history and science behind photography, where students explored hand making Cyanotypes, Salt Prints, and Pinhole Cameras. Her data was collected through observations, questionnaires, informal student interviews, and analysis of student work. Drew discovered that students enjoyed the hands-on approach and learning about these techniques, but students (as digital natives) were more eager to focus on digital skills. Her Action Research journey is documented including lesson plans, initial research, student work, and other data on her website: https://sites.google.com/view/drew-mulligan/capstone
