Waste separation in Germany is somewhat complex but not that difficult to understand. In principle, a distinction is made between:
Organic waste (brown bin or compost)
Residual waste (black bin)
Plastic waste (yellow bin or yellow bag)
Paper waste (blue bin)
and in addition there are
Waste glass container (White glass, green glass, brown glass)
Old clothes container (wearable clothes, shoes)
Deposit bottle machines (plastik bottles, glass bottles, Beverage crates)
And on a numbered days of the year your local Waste company will collect (You may also need to make an appointment for collection):
Hazardous waste (toxic things such as painter's varnish)
Bulky waste (old furniture, Electrical appliances ...)
Tree and shrub pruning
However, you can also take appropriate waste to a scrap yard near you. Depending on the type of waste, you may have to pay a fee, and some companies will buy your paper and electrical waste for little money.
