SUMMARY
DreamDejaVu? is built so that your dreams stay yours. The App records, transcribes, and interprets your dreams entirely on your device. We — Dream Déjà Vu LLC — do not collect, receive, transmit, sell, or have any access to your dreams or to any other personal information. There are no user accounts, there are no servers operated by us, there is no advertising, and there is no third-party tracking.
This Privacy Policy explains, in plain terms, how the App handles information. Because the App is designed not to collect data, this policy is shorter and simpler than most.
1. WHO THIS POLICY APPLIES TO
This Privacy Policy applies to the DreamDejaVu? mobile application (the "App") for Apple devices, published by Dream Déjà Vu LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). It does not apply to any other application, website, or service. This policy is incorporated into, and should be read together with, our Terms and Conditions.
By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
We want to be direct about this, because it is the most important part of this policy:
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact or identity information.
- We do not collect or receive your dreams, recordings, transcripts, symbols, associations, interpretations, themes, or any other content you create in the App.
- We do not require, offer, or operate any user account, login, or password.
- We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, cookies, web beacons, or any other third-party tracking technology.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, and the App does not ask for permission to do so.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information — because we do not have any.
3. HOW YOUR INFORMATION IS STORED AND USED
Everything you create in the App — dream recordings, transcripts, symbols, associations, interpretations, themes, and related notes — is stored only on your device, in the App's local storage. It is not uploaded to us, and the App does not send it to anyone else on its own. The only ways your content leaves your device are ones you choose to start yourself — see Section 6, "Importing, Exporting, and Sharing Your Data."
Recording and transcription. When you record a dream or a voice note, the audio is captured on your device and transcribed on your device. Transcription is performed by on-device speech recognition (Apple's Speech framework and the WhisperKit speech-recognition model). Your audio is not sent to us or to any third-party server for transcription.
Dream analysis and interpretation. The App's analysis features — summaries, symbol extraction, interpretations, and theme detection — are produced by Apple's on-device artificial intelligence (Apple Intelligence, via the Foundation Models framework). This processing happens locally on your device. Your dream content is not transmitted to us, to Apple, or to any other party for this purpose.
4. NETWORK USE
The App is designed to function without sending your personal data over the network. There is one limited exception:
Typically only on first launch, the App downloads a speech-recognition model (WhisperKit) so that transcription can run on your device. This is a download of software components, not a transfer of your information: it does not transmit your dreams, your recordings, or anything you have entered into the App. The model is downloaded from the Hugging Face Hub, an online model repository operated by Hugging Face, Inc.; as with any internet request, the request to that host involves standard connection information such as your device's IP address. We do not operate that host, and we do not receive any information from this download.
Apart from this model download, the App does not require an internet connection to function, and the App itself does not transmit your content over the network. If you choose to use an export or sharing feature — for example, emailing a dream or theme through your own email app — your content is sent only because you direct it to be, and the sending is carried out by the apps and accounts you choose (such as your email app), not by DreamDejaVu?. We never receive a copy. See Section 6.
5. DEVICE PERMISSIONS
The App asks for the following device permissions. In each case, the data accessed stays on your device:
- Microphone: so that you can record dreams and voice notes. Recording occurs only when you choose to start a recording.
- Speech Recognition: so that your recordings can be transcribed into text on your device.
- Apple Intelligence: so that the App can generate dream summaries, symbols, interpretations, and themes using Apple's on-device artificial intelligence. Depending on your device and operating-system version, your device may show a prompt the first time this feature is used.
You can review or change Microphone and Speech Recognition at any time in your device's Settings. These are optional: if you decline them, voice recording and on-device transcription will be unavailable, but you can still type your dreams. Apple Intelligence is required for the App to function — while it is turned off, the App cannot generate summaries, symbols, interpretations, or themes, and it will ask you to enable it in Settings before you can add or analyze dreams (you can still export data already on your device).
6. IMPORTING, EXPORTING, AND SHARING YOUR DATA
The App lets you import dreams from your own audio and text files, export your dreams as a backup (a text file together with your audio recordings), and share the contents of individual dreams or themes — for example, by emailing them through your own email app.
Importing, exporting, and sharing happen only when you choose to perform them. When you export or share your content, it is placed or sent wherever you direct it — for example, into your device's Files app, or to recipients you select through your own email app. Any sending is performed by the apps and accounts you choose, not by us, and we never receive a copy. Once your content leaves the App in this way, it is under your control and is no longer protected by the App. Because dreams and themes can be personal and sensitive, please choose your recipients carefully and store and share this content responsibly.
7. DIAGNOSTICS AND CRASH DATA
We do not operate our own analytics or crash-reporting systems. If you have enabled the sharing of diagnostics and usage data with developers in your device's system settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized crash and performance reports. This sharing is controlled entirely by you through Apple's settings and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. These reports do not identify you and do not contain your dream content.
8. NO ACCOUNTS, PURCHASES, ADVERTISING, OR TRACKING
For clarity:
- The App does not have user accounts and does not ask you to register.
- As of this policy's Effective Date, the App does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions. If this changes in the future, any purchase would be processed by Apple, and we would not receive or store your payment card details. We would update this policy before introducing any such change.
- The App contains no advertising.
- The App performs no behavioral tracking and uses no third-party tracking technologies.
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18 — and, as described throughout this policy, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone of any age. If you have any concern relating to a minor's use of the App, please contact us using the details below.
10. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Privacy laws in some regions — including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and the State of California — give individuals rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of their personal information.
Because we do not collect or hold any personal information about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, export, or delete on our side. You already hold full control of your information directly:
- All of your data lives on your device, and you can view or delete individual items within the App.
- You can export your data at any time using the App's backup feature.
- You can permanently delete all App data by deleting the App from your device.

11. DATA SECURITY
Because your information stays on your device, its security depends largely on the security of your device itself. Your data benefits from the protections built into your device's operating system, such as device passcodes, storage encryption, and biometric locks. We encourage you to keep your device updated and protected with a passcode. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features. When we make changes, we will revise the "Effective Date" above and make the updated policy available within the App and at the location where this policy is published. If we ever make a change that would involve collecting personal information, we will make that change clear before it takes effect. Your continued use of the App after an update means that you accept the revised policy.
