Focus Task Timer is a productivity app developed by DreamCode Labs. We value your privacy and comply with Google Play’s requirements for transparent data handling. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects (if any), how it is used, and how we protect it.
Focus Task Timer is published by DreamCode Labs. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, you can contact us at zunaidsultan786@gmail.com. We provide a clear point of contact so that users can inquire about privacy, as required by Google Play. Our Privacy Policy is publicly available at https://sites.google.com/view/dreamcodelabs-privacy/home and will be linked in the Google Play Store listing as required.
Focus Task Timer does not collect any personal or sensitive information from you. In particular, we do not collect the following categories of data listed by Google’s guidelines:
Personal identifiers: Your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information.
Content: Photos, videos, audio files, messages or other personal content.
Location: Precise or approximate GPS/location data.
Contacts: Names, addresses, phone numbers from your address book.
Device Data: Unique device identifiers (IMEI, advertising IDs, etc.) or the list of apps installed on your device.
Health or Sensitive Data: Health metrics, biometric data, or any other protected information.
Financial Data: Payment information or financial accounts.
The only data Focus Task Timer records is the name and duration of each focus session you manually enter (for example, “Reviewing PRs – 25 minutes”). This is used only to display your session history within the app and improve your personal productivity experience. All such session information is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted or shared with anyone. In other words, the app collects only the minimal data needed for its core functionality (tracking focus tasks), and does not use it for advertising, personalization, or any purpose beyond the app’s features.
Focus Task Timer requests only necessary permissions, and only for optional features you enable:
Do Not Disturb Permission (Notification Policy Access): If you choose to enable the Focus Environment mode (to minimize interruptions), we may ask for permission to toggle Do Not Disturb during focus sessions. This permission is used solely to silence notifications and alerts while you are focusing. No personal information or notification content is read or collected; we only change the device’s interruption settings. This request is fully opt-in and clearly explained to you.
Vibration: We may vibrate the device at the end of a session if you enable that option. This requires no special permission beyond normal device functionality.
No other sensitive permissions are used. The app does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, location services, SMS/call logs, health data, or any other personal data. It also does not request permission to read your app inventory or perform any background tracking. This ensures compliance with Google’s guideline that an app only requests permissions “reasonably expected by the user”. Focus Task Timer will never ask for information that is not required for a focus timer (for example, it will not ask for your email address or location).
Because Focus Task Timer collects no personal data, there is virtually nothing to use for marketing or analytics. The very limited data it does handle (your session names and durations) is used only to provide the app’s features. For example:
App Functionality: We use the session names and durations only to track your focus history and show your productivity statistics in-app. This usage is strictly within the scope of the app’s purpose (productivity tracking).
No Advertising or Analytics: We do not run advertisements that track you or share your information with advertisers. We do not use any analytics or SDKs that collect user behavior.
In accordance with Google Play’s User Data policy, we explicitly disclose that we do not share any user data with third parties. No external services receive your data from Focus Task Timer. We do not engage in data selling or advertising, and we do not have any SDKs that collect or monetize your information.
All data maintained by Focus Task Timer resides only on your device. We do not transmit or store any user data on our servers. You remain in full control of your data at all times. Specifically:
Local Storage: Your focus session history and settings are saved locally on your device. We retain this data only as long as the app is installed. If you clear the app’s data or uninstall the app, all focus data is removed. No data backup or syncing occurs unless you explicitly export it (if we provide such a feature in the future).
Account Deletion (If Applicable): Currently, Focus Task Timer does not require or create any user accounts. However, to comply with Google Play’s policies (which mandate that apps allow account deletion if accounts exist), we commit that if we ever introduce account-based functionality, we will provide an easy way to delete your account and all associated data. (For now, you can delete all your data simply by uninstalling the app.)
We do not retain any data beyond its necessary use. If in the future we add features (such as optional cloud backup), we will update this policy to describe how long data is kept and how you can request deletion. Any retention of data would only be as long as needed for functionality; for example, Google’s policy requires that if data is kept for security or legal reasons, we must inform users. Currently, no such retention is needed.
We take reasonable measures to protect any data in our possession. Although Focus Task Timer handles only non-sensitive usage data, we follow industry best practices:
Secure Transmission: If the app ever communicates with a server (for example, to check for updates), we use secure HTTPS connections, as recommended by Google to handle data with “modern cryptography”.
On-Device Security: All focus session data is stored in your device’s internal storage, which is protected by the operating system. We do not write any personal data to external or world-readable storage.
No Selling of Data: We do not sell, rent, or lease any user data to third parties. Your information remains completely under your control.
By not transmitting personal data to servers and by using secure protocols for any necessary updates, we minimize the risk of data breaches. Should our practices change, we will update this policy accordingly.
Focus Task Timer is not designed for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. In the event that a child uses the app and provides information (such as a session name), that data is handled the same way as for any user: it stays on the device and is not shared. We comply with applicable regulations (such as COPPA in the U.S.) by not targeting or gathering personal data from minors. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child, we will promptly delete it.
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data (for example, access, correction, deletion under GDPR or CCPA). Since Focus Task Timer does not collect personal identifiers, these rights mainly pertain to any data we hold. In summary:
You have the right to request deletion of any personal data we might have. In our case, uninstalling the app or clearing its data on your device achieves this.
You have the right to access any data we hold about you. As a policy, we hold no data outside your device, but you can request a copy of any stored session data from us.
You have the right to object to any data processing. Since we only process data for app functionality and do not use it for marketing, there should be no objectionable processing.
We will not unreasonably deny any request that falls under applicable privacy laws.
These rights are in line with Google’s guidance that apps must explain how users can control their data. If you wish to exercise your rights or have questions, please contact us at the email above.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app or legal requirements. When we do, the new policy will be posted at the same URL above and the date of the latest version will be updated. If there are significant changes, we may notify you within the app or on our Play Store listing. It is your responsibility to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of Focus Task Timer constitutes acceptance of any updates.
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how we handle data, please contact DreamCode Labs at zunaidsultan786@gmail.com. We take your privacy seriously and will address any reasonable requests or inquiries.
