NCER is part of Nutan Maharashtra Vidya Prasarak Mandal which is a highly respected education society in Maharashtra and is credited with starting national education schools in the Maval Region of Pune district over 100 years ago. The great freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak was the founder member of the Mandal and was the Chairman of its Governing Body for almost 12 years. The progressive, dynamic, and dedicated management of the Nutan Maharashtra Vidya Prasarak Mandal has decided to conversion diploma college NUTAN MAHARASHTRA VIDYA POLYTECHNIC to Degree College NUTAN COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & RESEARCH four year degree engineering college from the academic year 2018-2019.

 NCER offers 4 UG programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering (AI) under Dr. BATU Lonere. We also offer AICTE approved 5 B.Voc. programs affiliated to Dr. BATU Lonere. At present around 1600 students are studying in various B.Tech. programs, 300 students in B.Voc. program.

The Mechanical Engineering Department was established in the year 2018-19 during the establishment of the Institute. The NCER Mechanical Department aims to create globally best, industry-oriented, skill-based manpower. Currently it is running one undergraduate program i.e. B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering with intake of 60 seats.
