Part 1. AI-generated video file or shareable link (MP4 or viewable link). Embed the video if possible.
Part 2
Script document (Word or Google Doc)
In this assignment, you will use an AI-powered video generation platform (such as HeyGen, Creatify, Synthesia, or a similar tool) to create a short instructional video for a secondary-level or work audience. These tools allow you to input a script and generate a lifelike video using virtual presenters (avatars), saving time while maintaining professional quality.
Part 3
Reflection (200–300 words)
Using an AI-powered video generation tool was an eye-opening experience. I learned how quickly professional-looking instructional videos can be created by simply uploading a script. Normally, recording a video would take much longer, requiring equipment, editing, and re-recording if mistakes were made. With this tool, the process was streamlined and efficient, allowing me to focus on the content rather than production.
One clear benefit of AI-generated video is time savings. Teachers can create consistent, polished videos for flipped lessons, asynchronous modules, or revision. The avatars and voices also give the video a professional tone that might hold students’ attention more effectively than a simple slide presentation. Another advantage is accessibility—students who miss class or need extra practice can re-watch the material at their own pace.
However, there are drawbacks. The videos can feel less personal since the avatar isn’t the teacher students know. This may limit connection and engagement. Also, some free versions of these platforms have restrictions, such as watermarks, time limits, or limited customization. Cost could also be a barrier for regular use.
In my own classroom, I could see myself using AI videos to supplement instruction, especially for review or homework support. They could also help when I cannot be physically present, ensuring students still receive clear explanations. However, I would balance them with live teaching so students still have opportunities to interact, ask questions, and build relationships.
