Welcome to my space! I am Dr. Bikash Kumar Sahoo, a Doctoral Research Scholar (Ph.D.) in Public Health at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. My journey in public health is driven by a passion for improving health systems and ensuring equitable access to healthcare for all. My work focuses on health systems, policy and planning, primary health care, universal health coverage, health economics and financing, and preventing and controlling communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Before joining IIT Jodhpur, I gained valuable experience in public health through various roles. I worked as a Senior Research Fellow at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where I contributed to critical health projects, and as a Technical Officer at the National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR-ICMR), Bengaluru, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. These roles have shaped my understanding of health data systems, disease surveillance, and the implementation of impactful health strategies.
Academically, I hold a Master’s in Public Health with distinction and a Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) with first-division honors from the University of Hyderabad, an Institution of Eminence and one of India’s top-ranking public research universities. My academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SV NIRTAR), Cuttack, Odisha, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. I have cleared the UGC NET in Social Medicine and Community Health in 2022. Additionally, I am a Registered Physiotherapist with the Odisha State Council for Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.
Through my research and professional endeavors, I aim to contribute to building resilient health systems and advancing policies that promote sustainable healthcare solutions.
