Drawn to Nature was created to address the need to provide supportive nature based programming to reconnect us (as humans) to the physical, mental, social, spiritual, and environmental benefits of spending time in and with nature.

Debby is a certified Nature & Forest Therapy Guide and Trails Consultant with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) and a passionate advocate for the wellness benefits of time spent in and around nature. As an educator, outdoor leader, facilitator, and artist, Debby blends a unique perspective of science, creativity, connection, and joy into her guided experiences. She currently delivers nature and art-based programs, guides Forest Bathing walks, nature immersion hikes, and creative explorations in Western North Carolina and beyond.

Debby is also a retired Associate Instructor from the Parks & Recreation Management Program at Western Carolina University (WCU) in Cullowhee, NC. As an educator, Debby has been recognized with university and college level awards including WCU’s Excellence in Teaching Liberal Studies Award, College of Education & Allied Professions (CEAP) Soaring High Award, CEAP’s Legislative Teaching Award (2 times), and WCU’s Meritorious Award for Engaged Teaching, and WCU SGA Outstanding Faculty Member. As a higher education faculty member for more than 35 years, Debby has presented at numerous conferences, led an array of professional development workshops, and collaborated with a variety of community partners.
