Dr. Awais Ahmed received his M.Sc degree in 2009 in Earthquake Engineering from IUSS- Institute of Advanced Study and Universita Degli Studi Di Pavia, Italy. His thesis was on Extended finite element for modeling arbitrary discontinuities in solids and structures. In September 2014, he received his Ph.D. degree from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.
He was honored with the “Biezeno award for solid mechanics” due to his outstanding Ph.D. work. The award was given by the Royal Dutch Society of Engineers (KIVI, Koninglijk Instituut voor Ingenieurs) in collaboration with the KNAW accredited research schools J.M. Burgerscentrum (JMBC) and Engineering Mechanics (EM). His thesis was on “Computational modeling of progressive failure in FRP composite laminates subjected to static and impact transverse loading”.
In December 2014, he joined the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar, Pakistan as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering.
