MAKE A COPY FOR EACH STUDENT
Distribute an assignment to each of your students so they will all get their own copy with their name on the assignment title.
SCHEDULE A POST
Great for sub days!
You can schedule all of your Google Classroom posts ahead of time. Another Sub Plan Tip... leave sub plans on a Google Doc or Slide Deck. You can update your subplan from anywhere at anytime!!! Just create a shortened URL and leave that (along with your login information - or ask Aaron for a temporary login) in your sub folder!
VERIFYING STUDENTS DID THEIR OWN WORK
If you feel students may be duplicating work, copy a unique phrase or sentence from the student's answer and paste it into your Google Drive search bar. Since you are the co-owner of the documents you push out through Google Classroom, they are searchable in your Google Drive! Students with the same answers will populate and you can click on their assignments for a closer look.
You can also use the Draftback Chrome Extension to play back all changes.
If a student tries to share a Google Classroom assignment, the teacher will be e-mailed.
You can also use Version History to see if the student copy and pasted, and who did what work for group assignments!
PUSH OUT TO MULTIPLE PERIODS/CLASSES
When you are pushing out in GC, click the class. It will give you a drop down menu. Click all the other periods you want to send it out to too.
If you aren't ready to push the assignment out to every period at the same time, you can use the "Reuse Post" button.
USE COMMENTS FOR EXIT TICKETS
This one comes from the Google expert herself, Alice Keeler. She suggests having students complete an exit ticket or a reflection in the private comment section of their assignment. You can comment back with your initials as a form of a read receipt.
GET THE GC APP
Get the Google Classroom App for your phone!
You and students (and parents) can access GC anytime, anywhere. You can push out assignments, post announcements, grade, and more from your phone. (To use all the features of GC, you need to install Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps)
ADD A SECRET PASSWORD
Use "response validation" to password protect your Google Form assessment. They won't be able to enter the next section until they enter the password.
