Drama Schedule Autumn Term 2025
Pre School The children in Pre school will begin drama classes after the October half term break. After half term they will be introduced to drama through nursery rhymes and familiar stories they can role play.
Reception The children will begin the year with a focus on working in pairs and small groups where ideas and roles are shared to encourage cooperation and team work They will using some of the books the children are reading in class., for example 'The Little Red Hen'.
Year 1 The children will practice group work and acting out a story through the traditional tale The Enormous Turnip. After half term, the children will focus on dance and movement.
Year 2 For the first half of the term, the children will do a fun drama unit based around the Julia Donaldson 'Room on the Broom.' After half term the children will focus on individual, paired and small group dance and movement.
Year 3 For the first half of the term, the children will do a fun drama unit based around the Traditional story 'Hansel and Gretel'. After half term, the children will focus on group work freeze frames and simple improvisation.
Year 4 The children will begin the year by exploring emotions and feelings and how to show these using facial expressions, body language and sounds. In the second half of the term the children will introduced to comedy theatre through the unit ' Animal Skits.'
Year 5 The children will start the school year with a unit on Physical Theatre through fairy tales. In the second half of the term the children will look be focusing on comedy and slap stick through the unit 'Silly Skits.'
Year 6 The Year 6 pupils will begin the year with a drama unit 'Introduction to Mime.' After the half term break, the children will work on voice and gesture through performance poetry.
