I would assume this is partially because of the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors had the greatest record in NBA history this year. They also had 2 of the top 5 greatest 3-point shooters ever. This shorter term trend spikes up and down every couple of months since 2016. 3-point shooting has increased greatly since 2010. There is a pattern where it spikes up slightly higher than before, then drops, then spikes higher than before.
