12:00pm - Dragon Breakout Room: Youth Bardic & Martial Performances
Hosted by: HE Montengarde, Bjar the Blue
Families! Dragonslayer invites you to the Youth Bardic & Martial Performance at Dragonslayer (Sat Jun 19 12 pm - 2 pm)
1. Family Bardic - We'd once again like to invite families to a midday bardic. We want to keep this performance as accessible to the youth as we can, including the option to show pre-recorded performances that the parent can share as part of the circle. Whether their comfort level is "Twinkle twinkle little star" or singing along with a parent, we’d love to hear them! IMPORTANT - Parent or legal guardian must be present with their youth during online participation.
2. Youth Martial - Currently we can't meet to fight, but we would like to invite the youth to present their kit or show off their kit in action for 2 to 5 minutes; be it combat or archery or equestrian or other SCA martial activity. This idea is largely inspired by the 'Dressage Performances' and 'Martial Relays' of the Bardic War, where fighters could show off their kit, and share videos of themselves in action. We are still working out the technical details, but the biggest intent is that none of the content goes online except for screening it at a set time during the event.
Any pre-recorded content will require a Model Release and Creative Release for it's use.
NOTE: This is an all-ages family activity.
1:00pm - Minotaur Breakout Room: Ambroise Paré: the new breed of barber-surgeon.

Battlefield medic, surgical and wound care pioneer, forensic pathologist, and surgical instrument maker; Ambroise Paré (1510-1590) revolutionized late Medieval surgery with his insights into surgical techniques and post-operative care. 4:00pm - Minotaur Breakout Room: Archery in medieval Ireland.
Instructor: Dáire Ó Lochlainn
Looking at historical and archaeological evidence, a survey of archery in medieval Ireland will be undertaken. A synthesis of the two evidence types will then present an assessment of the use of archery in medieval Irish warfare. The Hiberno-Norse 'Ballinderry Bow' will be looked at in detail as it is perhaps the best preserved example of the bow in medieval Ireland.
