Scientific Researcher (Voluntary)
Dragone Project
Location:
HMD Suit, Student life Centre.
Hours:
Every Friday 17:00 to 19:00
About us:
The Dragone Project, led by Hamed Rajabi since 2022, draws inspiration from his extensive PhD research on dragonfly wings in Iran and Germany. With a mission to create a more efficient drone design, the project unites a dedicated team of graduate and undergraduate students. Beginning with research on insect wing 3D printing by Saita et al, the project has exceeded expectations, focusing on biomimetics for improved drone flight. Milestones include a functional flapping mechanism and corrugated wings, with plans for joint integration and a launcher. This hands-on experience fosters skills in teamwork, creativity, research, and technical engineering, enhancing your CV with expertise in CAD, prototyping, design fabrication, testing, and experimentation. Final year projects have been tailored to further develop the drone design and there is also opportunity to collaborate and write a paper on the Project. There are also hopes to partake in the Natural Robotics Competition for 2024.
