Looking at the social vulnerability index, crime index, Low and Moderate Income and the Great Flood of 2016 impact spatially, there appears to be a correlation. It reinforces the need in these geographic areas. Further review is needed.
Law Enforcement
Tom Malmay retrieved the photograph and statement below from the West Monroe Police Department's (WMPD) social media. In the ongoing conversations, WMPD and Monroe Police Department (MPD) outreach in the community has been talked about. At the October 30th meeting we heard about the significant investment and commitment by Sheriff Jay Russell, Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office (OPSO). It is all part of the community conversation. Thank you law enforcement.
WMPD - We received this message from a citizen about Officer Gilbert and wanted to share it. Gilbert is a great guy and we are thankful to have him wearing the WMPD uniform.
“I just wanted to show my appreciation for a kind officer who helped my pregnant friend yesterday after she ran out of gas on the side of the interstate. He sat with her while gas was brought and then instructed me to stay safely in my car while he put the gas in her car. I didn’t catch his name, but he was much appreciated!”
