The Investment Club at USF provides hands-on experience to over 80 members through its five distinct divisions: Strategic Investment Group, Executive Office, Investment Strategy, Portfolio and Risk Management, and Placement.

Each division offers unique learning experiences and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Whether members are interested in fundamental analysis, technical finance, or networking, the club caters to diverse interests ensuring valuable opportunities for all.

OUR DIVISIONS

Executive Office

The Executive Office Division (“EO”) is the core division within IC, focused on the organization’s inner workings to ensure optimal integration across all functions. Besides building and preserving IC’s culture, Executive Office also fosters partnerships with companies, organizations, and professionals to source high-impact opportunities to showcase USF’s talent pool and facilitate Investment Club members' professional and career development. The skills obtained in EO help to prepare members in Corporate Finance, Marketing, Consulting, Business Intelligence, or related fields.

The division is divided into 4 different sub-teams: Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Development, and Alumni Relations.

Investment Strategy

Investment Strategy ("ISG") Division was formed from a merger between the Investment Club at USF and the Financial Planning Association in the Fall 2022 semester. The introduction of Investment Strategy fulfills IC's vision to provide students with the skills necessary for careers in finance and wealth management, and it is comprised of two core teams: the Global Macro Team and the Asset Allocation Team.

The Global Macro Team examines key economic indicators, capital markets, and macroeconomic trends to assess how global developments impact financial markets and investment decisions. The Asset Allocation Team conducts in-depth research across various asset classes to construct multiple portfolios that align with varying risk profiles. Together, both teams present their findings three times a semester in an Investment Committee Meeting (ICM), simulating a real-world experience

Placement

Founded in 2025, Placement is dedicated to increasing placement rates across finance through individualized support through every stage of the interview process. Available for all our divisional members, Placement is committed to elevating recruitment success rates at USF by equipping students with the necessary tools and guidance to excel in the competitive internship landscape. It also organizes insightful workshops with practical and personalized recruiting advice exclusive for our divisional members as well as leading an exclusive IC Mentorship Program.

Portfolio and risk management

The Portfolio and Risk Management Division (“PRM”) was founded in 2026. The division was created to establish a more disciplined and professional approach to managing the club's investment funds, with a focus on improving investment quality, controlling portfolio risk, protecting capital, and supporting the club’s long-term growth.

PRM oversees investments after they are added to a portfolio. Rather than identifying new investment ideas, the divisional members continuously review existing holdings to determine whether the original investment thesis remains valid and the company’s fundamentals and valuation still justify the position. Based on its analysis, PRM recommends whether positions should be maintained, increased, trimmed, exited, or placed on a watchlist.

The division also evaluates portfolio performance, asset allocation, sector and single-stock concentration, macroeconomic risks, position sizing, diversification, and the opportunity cost of keeping capital in each investment.

Strategic Investment group

The Strategic Investment Group (“SIG”) was established in 2026 through the merger of the Asset Management Division (“AMD”) and Global Investment Research (“GIR”), bringing investment research and asset management functions under one unified division. SIG is responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, conducting due diligence and financial analysis, and presenting investment recommendations to the Investment Committee. The division provides members with hands-on experience across the investment lifecycle, from initial thesis development to active capital deployment, preparing them for careers in investment banking, asset management, and buy-side investing.
