After doing a Fellowship in Pediatric Medicine from CPSP, Pakistan, I did 2nd fellowship in Neonatology. I also went to the UK for specialist training in Neonatology, after being selected for a fellowship award under the RCPCH, UK. During my training years, especially in the UK, I participated in a guideline development group for my hospital and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. I did a number of training courses and workshops for statistical analysis to that effect.

After my return to Pakistan, I worked as an Assistant Professor in Neonatology at SIMS, Lahore. As a part of my job, I had been training and teaching undergraduate and graduate doctors and nurses specifically in Neonatology. I also ran regular workshops for Newborn Resuscitation in my hospital and a few in outlying districts. I had also been engaged by the MNCH, Pakistan, as a consultant for the development of the newborn care manual and as a member of the TWG for perinatal nutrition. I am also an active member of the Neonatology Group of Pakistan Pediatric Association, developing some of the guidelines, and being a member of the scientific committee for the 1st Neonatal International Conference held in Lahore, in March.

I worked for three years as a Consultant Neonatologist in Dallah Hospital, a Saudi tertiary care hospital with a 37-bed capacity NICU equipped with HFOV, Sipap, and iNO facilities. I also developed and revised guidelines for the NICU, apart from my routine duties as the third on-call covering the NICU, nursery, labour rooms, and neonatal OPDs.

I am currently working in Fatima Memorial Hospital, Lahore, as Head of Neonatal Services, Consultant Neonatologist, and Professor of Neonatology (Paediatrics). I teach undergraduate students for MBBS and postgraduate students for FCPS Paediatrics. I am currently developing and upgrading neonatal services and guidelines in FMH.
