Dr. Tomeika Williams-Lamar is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at a HBCU in the State of Georgia. She is a proud first-generation college graduate from Atlanta, Georgia, with an impressive academic foundation, she holds an Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. in Accounting.
From 2005 to 2014, Dr. Williams-Lamar built a successful career in private accounting, excelling in roles such as Staff Accountant, Consultant, and Accounting Manager. Her professional experience spans a wide range of industries, including real estate, distribution, market research, insurance, and telecommunications.
Dr. Williams-Lamar's research interests include financial fraud and forensics, tax, corporate governance, behavioral accounting, and auditing. After earning her Master's degree in 2010, she began her teaching journey as an adjunct accounting instructor. Over the past decade, she has made significant contributions to teaching, curriculum development, and instructional design in accounting, business management, and corporate finance.
In 2015, Dr. Williams-Lamar authored her first accounting textbook for business majors. Currently, she is working on an accounting ethics textbook, anticipated for publication in 2026. Her scholarly achievements include a 2017 article in the Springer Series for Corporate Sustainability and Governance, which explores corporate governance and fraud in the precious metals industry, and a 2019 tax advice piece published in the Detroit Premier Journal.
Dr. Williams-Lamar is actively engaged in the accounting community, regularly attending regional and local conferences, including those hosted by the American Accounting Association (AAA) and the Georgia Society of CPAs. She is passionate about advancing the field of accounting through education, research, and professional collaboration.
