Overview

We are excited to work with your child for a year of learning and fun as we explore foundational math concepts together. Benchmark School's Math curriculum utilizes a combination of the concrete and abstract to help students learn mathematical concepts and skills. We continually tailor our instruction to meet the individual needs of each learner. There are four major 1st grade math domains:

• Addition, subtraction, and strategies for addition and subtraction
• Number relationships and place value, including grouping in tens and ones
• Linear measurement, time, and representing data
• Geometry- shapes and attributes
