Biography
Dr. Veerapandiyan Veerasamy is a Lecturer in Cybersecurity at Curtin University, Singapore, specializing in the intersection of cyber-resilience, artificial intelligence, and next-generation energy infrastructure.
Prior to his current appointment, he served as a Research Fellow at the Electrification and Power Grid Centre (EPGC) / Energy Research Institute (ERI@N) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. During his five-year tenure at NTU, he successfully executed high-impact, nationally funded research initiatives spanning smart grids, virtual power plants (VPPs), distributed energy resources (DERs), and digital energy systems.
Dr. Veera’s research is defined by its strong translation from theory to practice. He possesses deep field expertise in the operation, maintenance, and technical standard compliance testing of MW-scale microgrids (both AC and DC systems) and MWh-scale Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). He is a specialist in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL, C-HIL, P-HIL) real-time simulations using OPAL-RT and RTDS platforms.
A recognized technical authority, he contributes directly to regional and international standardization, offering deep expertise in compliance and regulatory frameworks including IEEE 1547, IEEE 2030, IEC 62898, IEC 61851, TR25, TR77, and the EMA Transmission Code. Notably, he brings extensive hands-on experience working within SAC-SINGLAS certified laboratory environments specifically for Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and Energy Storage System (ESS) validation. Formally trained in ISO/IEC 17025 compliance, Dr. Veera bridges the gap between cutting-edge academic research and rigorous, industry-accredited testing and quality management frameworks.
