Learning Diary of ICT Module
The first lesson on ICT covered various digital technologies, including Padlet and Moodle. Padlet allows students to create a class screen by uploading a photo and biography. The lecture also covered personal email creation with a strong password using 8-10 characters and various styles. The second part covered Moodle, a learning management system. Overall, the lesson provided valuable insights into the world of ICT and its applications in various fields.
Google Workplace, online digital learning tools, and platforms were the focus of the second session. Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive, YouTube, and also CANVA online based-tool have all been discussed, which was brand-new to me.
In the second week's class, an all-in-one digital communication tool (ZOOM) was introduced, allowing HD video conferencing, video calling, chat, and commenting. Zoom was used for the meeting, and compress.jpeg was introduced to compress and reduce file sizes. Key points for good self-video conferencing included camera level, background, makeup, and eye posture. The session also discussed key points for successful presentations and slides, providing fresh concepts and guidelines for creating effective presentations and slides.
The second session focused on preparing, presenting, using body language, and focusing on time constraints for having an effective presentation and seminar. The session also discussed the Google site and its free and safe privacy features. Since all of the features of the Google site were new to me, I decided to keep the Google site up until the conclusion of my academic career, as a tool for expanding the business and publishing items on the site that can help them succeed in the pharmaceutical sector. The Padlet account was created, and I will have a plan to use it to help students achieve academically and increase their chances of learning.
In the third week, the first session, the Kahoot platform a game-based learning tool that allows users to create and play questions on the screen was covered. It also allows teachers to create surveys and polls, making it an effective way to review previous subjects and remember important information. Google Ngram Explorer is a program that allows users to search across a large collection of textual sources to analyze language changes throughout history. The interactive figure produced by N-gram Viewer depicts word trends over time. Additionally, the lecture introduced the self-account of ResearchGate, which allows users to connect with their specialty community and improve their knowledge in their field. The session also covered features for adding newly published articles, making it a new experience for many users.
In week three, the final class covered Google Office apps Google Forms and Scholar. Google Forms is used for data collection, surveys, and analysis and also for making a quiz, while Google Scholar allows easy searches across various databases. The student uploaded their published paper and master thesis to their own accounts. LinkedIn, the largest professional social network, was discussed in the second part of the session, which can help find suitable jobs, establish connections, and acquire knowledge for career advancement.
In the final week of the ICT Module, a group project workshop focused on Prezi, a web-based tool for creating presentations using pre-built templates has been done. In the last session of the module, LMS, with a focus on Moodle, an open-source and cost-effective tool has been covered. Participants learned how to submit assignments, activities, and submit types, as well as time constraints, settings, and grades. LMS is crucial for connecting university students and teachers, boosting Kurdistan's university ranking, and gaining points through frequent use. It utilizes digital technologies for efficient feedback collection, saves time, and is environmentally friendly.
