Niyor Borah

PhD thesis title: "Characterizing tropical deep convection and its organization using satellite observations".

Niyor obtained masters degree in Mathematics from IISER Thiruvanathapuram. His research focuses on characterising tropical deep convective clouds using satellite observations and Big Data analysis.

Mehak

PhD thesis title: "Growth and maintenance of the Mixed Rossby-Gravity waves".

Mehak obtained masters degree in Physics from IISER Mohali. She tries to provide mechanistic explanations for the intensification of MRG waves by combining theory and observations.

Vaibhav Pachaulee

PhD thesis title" "Cloud population and its impacts on the amplifification of boreal summer Intraseasonal Oscillation".

Vaibhav obtained masters dgree in Physics from IIT-Bombay. He employs satellite remote sensing techniques and process studies of clouds to investigate the role of clouds in intensifying BSISOs.

Currently pursuing PhD in Physical Oceanography at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego, USA.

Vishnupriya S (2021-2022)

Thesis title "Extratropical stratospheric air intrusions and the genesis of downstream monsoon low-pressure system"

Currently pursuing PhD in Atmospheric Sciences at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.

Snigdha Samantaray (2020-2021)

Thesis title "Characterization of bulk entrainment proxy using CloudSat observations". Her thesis received the best MS thesis award. Currently pursuing PhD in Meteorology at the University of Miami, USA.

Aleena M J (2020-2021)

Thesis title "Factors influencing the strength and variability of convectively coupled Kelvin waves".

Completed DPhil program in Physics from the University of Oxford. Currently working as postdoctoral research scholar at the Imperial College, London, U.K.

Daman Bhonsle (2018-2019)

Thesis title "Development of a statistical prediction model for monsoon intraseasonal rainfall over south Asia".

Currently Pursuing PhD at India Meteorological Department (IMD), New Delhi.

Meera Mohan (2018-2019)

Thesis title " Downstream and in-situ: Two perspective on the initiation of monsoon low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal".

Her thesis received the best MS thesis award.

Currently pursuing PhD at the Monash University, Australia.
