How can nanoscale structure be deliberately created, understood, and controlled to determine catalytic and sensing function?
Our research explores the relationship between nanostructure, assembly, exposed facets, crystal structure, defects, electrical polarization, and functional performance. We combine materials synthesis with structural and mechanistic characterization to understand not only what material performs better, but why it performs better—and whether its function can be deliberately designed.
