Pre-Industry
While in high school during the 1980s, I always enjoyed helping others in the computer lab. I spent many hours learning how to use the programs and their shortcuts.
As a Boy Scout, I became experienced in teaching the younger boys how to prepare for camp. Yes, I completed my Eagle Scout rank in 1988.
Industrial Teaching Experience
As a production employee, I would have to teach fellow employees how to manufacture and measure parts using punch presses, brake presses, shears, and CNC equipment.
As a manufacturing engineer, I would teach production employees how to use new equipment and tools. I would prepare work instructions used by the employees and managers. I would develop new processes and tools for brake presses, stamping presses, electrical assembly, and welding.
As a quality manager, I was responsible for implementing a Quality Management System based on ideas Feigenbaum and Juran. Our quality assurance team was focused on proactive activities to reduce errors arriving at the customer's site.
I have been certified by ASCM as a Certified Supply Chain Professional.
I have been certified by ASQ as a Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence and a Certified Quality Engineer.
Higher Education Teaching Experience
I spent a short time tutoring mathematics for a community college.
I have taught asynchronous online classes since 2012 using Blackboard. I have taught in the classroom since 2013. I use my personal experiences in the industry to reinforce theoretical learning. Over the years I have created videos to further facilitate learning. Since Covid-19 I have been utilizing Zoom to teach hybrid synchronous courses. Currently, I am the Program Director of the BS in Supply Chain and Logistics Management (traditional residential and online) and BS in Supply Chain, Transportation, and Logistics Management (online cohort). I also enjoy taking students on field trips to local industries to engage their Real Learning for Real Life.
