Prof. (Dr.) Nagesh Kallappa Chougule is presently serving as the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at COEP Technological University, Pune, India (COEP Tech). He boasts approximately 34 years of experience in teaching and consulting in the fields of CAD/CAM/CAE and Thermal Engineering. Additionally, he oversees the CAD/CAM/CAE & Optimisation center and Renewable Energy Lab. Prof. Chougule holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and has authored three textbooks while also developing numerous mechanical engineering application softwares. He has visited several international universities and has published a considerable number of papers at both national and international levels.
For many years, he has been conducting various certificate courses on CAD/CAM/CAE and PLM software for academicians and industry professionals under the Continuing Education Program (CEP) of the institute. Furthermore, he possesses significant experience in consultancy regarding structural, thermal, and fluid flow simulation problems, as well as design verification for industry and government projects. Recently, Prof. Chougule established a Centre of Excellence for bamboo utilization in daily life applications at COEP. He leads research projects in the field of sustainability, focusing on the utilization of bamboo and biomass pellets for energy generation at the household level, as well as promoting clean cookstove design.
Prof. Chougule also serves as an expert for NBA accreditation visits and has conducted evaluations in approximately 100 institutes across India. He holds life membership in professional bodies such as The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG). Additionally, Prof. Chougule has worked as a member of the Board of Studies (BOS) in various universities and has delivered numerous expert sessions. He is also working chairman of State Level Technical Tender Evaluation Committee of Other Backward Classes Welfare Department State Government of Maharashtra.

Served as a mentor and advisor to students, providing guidance on academic, career, and personal matters. Developed proprietary software to automate the entire student lifecycle.
Over the last 34 years, have taken on several leadership roles within the department, including lab development, purchase committee member, faculty advisor, and coordinator of the Department Information System required for AICTE, NBA, NAAC, and NIRF. 2. Lattice Structure Design Automation: Developed software which imports any CAD data and convert it to porous model for 3D printing by using various lattice shape parameters and optimize it by generating DOE. This app is developed by interfacing Creo Parametric with Visual Basic API
3. Disc Cam Profile Generation and Manufacturing: Developed software which accepts various input parameters of disc cam and generates profile and GM codes for profile cutting.This app is developed by interfacing Creo Parametric with Visual Basic API
4. Computerized Limit Fit Tolerances & Gauge Design: User only enters desired Basic size, hole and shaft Grade, Tolerances. Software will calculates limits of hole and shaft, decides the type of fit and Design the GO-NOGO gauges for Hole and Shaft. This software is developed using Visual Basic 6.0, Access and Crystal report software.
5. Computer Aided Heat transfer Analysis: This software accepts wall thickness, wall material, initial and final temperatures and find total heat transfer, find thermal conductivity and interface temperatures. This software is developed using Visual Basic 6.0, Access software.
6. Student Information System: It consist Student Listing, Attendance and Test analysis modules. With this software we can generates different report like Bonafied Certificate, Leaving Certificates, Test wise Results, Monthly and Term wise attendance reports etc. This software is developed using Visual Basic 6.0, Access and Crystal report software.
7. 2D Transformation and Animation: User enters various 2D entities and transformations, with this software calculates new coordinates of an object and redraws an object. Also using sequence of transformations, it animates object. This software is developed using Visual Basic 6.0, Access software.
8. Isometric and Orthographic View Generation: User enter vertices of an object, using these input software display various views such as orthographic, perspective and isometric.
9. ERP for Educational Institute: We have developed a complete solution for educational institutes which consists various modules such as Students, Staff MIS, Exam. Module, Attendance, Accounting, fees handling, hostel management etc. For this we have used Vb6 as front end and Oracle as backend. Crystal report is used to generate various reports.
10. 2D and 3D Geometric Transformations- Translation, Rotation, Scaling, Reflection and Shearing of given problem using Excel VBA. It also plots the object before and after transformation
11. Projection Transformation- Orthographic, Perspective vies using Excel VBA
12. Bezier curve generation: Generates Bezier curver with given order and degree of the curve using Excel VBA
