Associate Professor
Francis Patrick Clark/BORSF Endowed Professorship in the School of Computing & Informatics I
I am an associate professor in the School of Computing and Informatics, Ray P. Authement College of Sciences, University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Biography
I have authored/co-authored dozens of conference and journal papers since 1996. I completed a B.S. degree in computer science (1982), masters degrees in both telecommunications (1999) and business administration (1988), and a Ph.D. in computer science (2007), all from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Additionally, I have earned 18-credit hours of graduate coursework in Theology (Dogmatic Theology Concentration) at Holy Apostles College & Seminary.
I teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Informatics, as well as direct informatics, computer science, and computer engineering masters and doctoral students in their research, masters theses and doctoral dissertations.
I worked in industry as a programmer, database developer, and network administrator from 1982 until 1989. I then joined the staff at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette in August of 1989, after which I became a faculty member in August 1996. I have been with the School of Computing and Informatics since its formation in Fall 2011, and have served previously as program coordinator for both the undergraduate and master's programs in Informatics.
I direct Master's and Ph.D. graduate research in the Intelligent Systems, Modeling, and Simulation (iSMS) Lab, School of Computing and Informatics, and am very proud of my current and former graduate students for their amazing research and scholarly accomplishments. (An example of the many research accomplishments originating from my lab is our paper entitled, "Real-Time Object Processing and Routing for Intelligent Drones: A Novel Approach," which was published as the COVER FEATURE INTELLIGENT AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS in the December 2020 issue of IEEE Computer Magazine.)
