Summary of the Profile
Dr.M.Mohamed Iqbal, has completed Ph.D. under Faculty of Electrical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai during the year 2016. He completed Master of Engineering in Power Systems Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University and Madurai Kamaraj University during 2006 and 2002 respectively. He has more than 18 years of academic teaching and research experience in various capacities in engineering collages. He is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India. He is an active member of various professional societies viz. IEEE, IE(I), ISTE etc.
He has published over 45 research articles including SCI / Scopus Indexed Journals / Conferences. Based on the research contributions, he has been recognized as a research supervisor for guiding Ph.D. / M.S. (By Research) in Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Two PhD scholars completed their research work under his guidance. He is also working in multi-disciplinary research projects on development of sustainable and bio-degradable polymeric composites for the high voltage insulators. He also hold the patents from Indian Patent Office for the industry grade products developed. Using his expertise on modern tools like ETAP, MATLAB etc., he guided many academic and research projects. He is currently an editor / reviewer of refereed Journals. He has taught many power system and renewable energy related courses (from beginner or advanced levels) for the Post-graduate and Under-graduate students. His research area of interest includes Smart grid, Hybrid Energy Systems, Smart Energy Management system, Power System stability, Power System Control, Power System Optimization, Electric vehicle, Model order reduction, Intelligent controller, Optimization techniques, Data science and Artificial Intelligence etc.
He served in various administrative roles at the department and institute level like Research coordinator, NBA Coordinator, Autonomous Coordinator etc. He also acted as the Programme Coordinator of B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering Programme. He headed the Alternate Energy Research Cluster and Power Division for the enhancement of R&D activities and Teaching-learning process. He received many awards namely Best Teacher Award, Young Educator and Scholar Award and Outstanding faculty of Engineering award etc. for his contributions in academic and state-of-art research fields.
