To see Dr. Khan, a referral must be sent by a medical doctor, nurse practitioner, or optometrist. These can be faxed to 306-922-2121. Triaging is done based on the urgency of the referral and reason for referral.
For routine referrals, the approximate wait time as of March 2026 is six (6) months.
After you check in with reception, you will be asked to have a seat.
Once available, our technicians will take you in, confirm or update your information, and then bring you through a series of testing required for your appointment. The testing may include vision, intraocular pressure, visual fields, pupil dilation if required, scans of your eyes, photos of your eyes, and more.
Once all testing is completed, Dr. Khan will examine your eyes, review the testing that was done, and discuss your condition and his findings.
One your appointment is complete, please ensure you checkout at reception to book your next appointment, receive instructions or other information, or coordinate other parts of your care.
This is a busy specialist clinic. Appointments may take up to two (2) hours due to the testing required, consultation time, and possible emergencies. Please arrive at your appointment time only. Give yourself extra time and do not book other appointments after this appointment. We do not keep a cancellation list as each appointment requires various machines and each patient with various needs which must be booked accordingly.
Masking is required in the office. Reception has masks provided upon check-in or you can wear your own. Face masks help lower the risk of transmission of respiratory viruses and other illnesses. Many of our patients have compromised immune systems and are otherwise at higher risk for severe illness. For the health and safety of yourself and everyone around you, all persons in the office must wear a mask. If you are otherwise unwell, please rebook your appointment.
(Gov. of SK policy for private clinics to implement their own masking guidelines)
Please bring your provincial health card, current list of medications, current eye drops, prescription glasses, and sunglasses. If you wear contacts, please do not wear them to your appointment or be prepared to remove them.
Pupil dilation: Expect to be dilated at every appointment. Many appointments require dilation as dilation is necessary to perform a complete retina exam. Sometimes, dilation will be decided during your appointment due to your condition. Refusal of dilation will result in your appointment being rescheduled. Please arrange a ride home as your eyes may be dilated, which lasts approximately three (3) hours. You will be sensitive to light, have blurred vision, and have issues with accommodation (near vision) for the duration of the drops. Sunglasses may provide some comfort. If you are not local and do not have a driver, please find another means of transportation. Driving while dilated is a danger to yourself and other drivers and may result in a fine.
Cataract surgery referrals require at least two (2) appointments before surgery can be booked. Please bring your prescription glasses (if applicable). It is important to discontinue contact lens use prior to your appointment. If you wear soft contact lenses, please ensure you have stopped wearing them at least two (2) weeks prior to every appointment. For rigid contact lens, please ensure you have stopped wearing them at least six (6) weeks prior to every appointment. If you have had LASIK in the past, please bring your pre-operative keratometry card. Once placed on the waitlist for surgery, as of March 2026, the surgical wait time is less than two (2) months.
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please give at least 24-hours notice. Multiple cancellations with less than 24-hours notice require a new referral. Extenuating circumstances may be excused at management's discretion.
If you are experiencing ocular issues or worsening symptoms prior to an upcoming appointment, please call the office and speak with reception or contact your referring doctor to update your referral.
If your vision suddenly decreases or if you have sudden increase in pain, floaters, or flashers, please go to your nearest emergency department or contact 8-1-1.
If medical transportation must be notified, please inform us one week before your appointment to ensure that your transportation clerk has time to confirm your arrangements.
Escorts are required for those that are receiving intraocular injections, travelling in their own vehicle, elderly, cannot understand or speak English, or disabled. If the previous statement does not apply and you are travelling with medical transportation, an escort is not needed for your appointment.
