Dr. Jay Ghosh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Bombay. His group's research focuses on the structural safety and reliability of civil engineering structures, under normal operational load and also extreme events such as earthquakes. His research also investigates the impact of deterioration mechanisms such as corrosion and fatigue on the lifetime performance of infrastructure systems. Since structural reliability analysis using traditional Monte Carlo methods prove to be computationally expensive, his research enables the reduction of computer run time using several different machine learning algorithms. He is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Bridge Engineering (ASCE), and Structure and Infrastructure Engineering
