Doctoral Student (Pondicherry University, India)

Develop new solid state electrolytes with the garnet structure that offer high conductivity and safety to enable the use of Li metal anodes in Li-ion batteries. The followings are the “technical” achievements of this project.

  • Performed in depth literature review and experiments which led to the selection of ideal Solid Electrolyte for its use in solid state battery (SSB)

  • Developed a garnet based solid electrolyte that will enable faster safe charging by preventing Li dendrites

  • Examined the processing, mechanical properties, interface and degradation of solid state electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries using various electrochemical techniques

  • Conducted failure analysis and postmortem analysis of operated cells and determine cell failure modes and mechanisms that limit cell performance

  • Performed in-depth characterization to understand and evaluate the microstructure

  • Identified and validated the reason for high interfacial-resistance between SSE and electrodes (Li metal anode and NMC as a cathode)

  • Designed suitable materials as a buffer layer at the cathode and anode interface.

  • Documented and performed battery testing experiments including EIS, Rate-capability, internal-resistance, etc.

  • Structured problem-solving and analytical skills and strong technical skills in areas such as Design of Experiments

  • Prepared technical reports, specifications and conducted design reviews.
