Department of Physics and Materials Science at the University of Memphis
This research group focuses on the synthesis, characterization and understanding of bulk and surface properties of nanomaterials including aerogels. Materials currently being studied include elastomeric materials and mesoporous materials such aerogels.
Some of this laboratory's projects:
Biomedical applications of aerogels to serve as a "smart" implant.
Use of phosphor thermometry for remote temperature detection.
Space applications of aerogels and aerogel RTV 655 compounds.
Biomedical techniques for aerogel implant imaging.
Aerogel synthesis and their biomedical, space and thermal applications.
Research consisting on aerogels and other polymers for biomedical applications.
Use of materials with nanometer size features with a wide variety of applications.
Use of polymers and materials science for space applications.
