Module: ICT module by Dr.Ali

After many years of Getting Doctorate ( Fellowship of Kurdistan Higher Board of Medical Specialty - Community Medicine 2016 ) and MBA ( Masters in Business Administration LFU 2009 ), I decided to get enrolled in Pedagogy course in Lebanese French University for two main reasons, first to have Scientific title as a lecturer and second to have knowledge about the ways of teaching in a scientific way.
I feel I am lucky to start ICT module as a first module of pedagogy out of 6 module that we take from pedagogy, and this is because the ICT module prepared us for the other modules to use computer, internet and its application correctly as a lecturer and to have benefit for the next modules.
ICT module starts with the basic information in the first session by introducing computer and how to create a new email and preferably Google mail ( gmail ) because google is widely used world widely and because of its different and rich range applications, especially google drive, google sheet, google quiz, google slides, google site, google and etc….
Also we've learned about the moodle which is a site used in most universities for teachers and students, for teachers will facilitate their task by sending assignment and quiz to students and also any kind of announcements. For students they can see when has to complete the assignment and quiz in a correct time and to see their degrees.
We also learned to introduce each other through an online portal padlet which was a new idea for us and later through the the presentation we've learned more details about the padlet account creation and the uses of this platform
On another session we have learned about the google document, google sheet, google form and google quiz, which is useful for us as a researcher and teacher to know the details about its effect and make our tasks easier.
After COVID pandemic in the beginning of 2020, a lot of things has been changed especially in education and higher education, nowadays Universities and schools started to depend on online education and using the electronic tools, another important and useful topic is Zoom meeting, through a session we learned to create an account on zoom and also to schedule a meeting and this will facilitate our work and task especially when it is not possible to be available physically or sometimes in case of urgent issue, also in the meetings that participants are multinational peoples.
The tools of learning through moodle and whats-app group specifically the tutorial videos that are place in the group helped me to learn the session which I took permission and I was not in the class, I can say the tutorial videos has compensated my unavailability by more than 75% and let me able to make assignment without assistant of others.
In the class general all the students were interact to the teacher and the teacher is concentrated mostly on student centered way of teaching which is more practical and the students can apply whatever they listen from teacher on their computers, so the information will be in our mind forever.
Another useful session and topics are Kahoot, Linkedin, research gate and google scholar what are mostly used in Academic institutions for example Linkedin is regarding as a professional social platform usually the academic peoples use it, Kahoot is another tool for quiz the students.
While research gate is a scientific profile for the scientist and teacher which involve their publication and can show their citation and progress.
On conclusion, I confess that the ICT module has changed my mind and my thinking, it will reflect as a mirror in the my future work in Universities and the way of teaching students.
