Dr. Muktan is a London-trained Paediatric Neurologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based neurological care for children and adolescents.
He completed his MBBS and MD in Paediatrics from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), one of Nepal’s premier medical institutions. He subsequently pursued advanced subspecialty training in Paediatric Neurology under the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), at the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK. He is also registered in General Medical Council (GMC) UK.
To further demonstrate his professional standards and commitment to excellence, Dr. Muktan successfully completed the RCPCH examinations in the United Kingdom and was awarded Full Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), UK.
He brings extensive clinical experience in the assessment and management of children with complex and rare neurological disorders, including Neurogenetic, Neurovascular, Neurometabolic, and Neuroimmunological conditions. His expertise also encompasses cerebral palsy, drug-resistant epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, and complex headache conditions, with a particular focus on accurate diagnosis, multidisciplinary care, and personalised treatment for children with challenging neurological conditions.
In addition, he has extensive experience in the management of drug-resistant epilepsy, including advanced treatment modalities such as Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) and ketogenic dietary therapy. He has also gained valuable experience working within a Children's Epilepsy Surgery Service (CESS) as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the comprehensive evaluation and management of children being considered for epilepsy surgery.
During his fellowship, Dr. Muktan was actively involved in clinical research, academic projects, and quality-improvement audits, contributing to the advancement of evidence-based paediatric neurological care. He was associated with several notable clinical research studies, including the Gene-STEPS, ADMIRAL, EXPEDITION, and ORCHID studies, gaining valuable experience in clinical research methodology and the translation of emerging evidence into clinical practice.
Currently, He is working in Civil Service Hospital, Minbhawan and Medharma Clinix, Durbarmarg, Kathmandu as Consultant Paediatric Neurologist.
