About Me
I am Dr. Bheemaiah Chikondra, working as an assistant Professor at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (An Institute of National Importance GOVT of India) Jais, Amethi, UP. Before joining this I was a postdoctoral research fellow at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE in the dept. of electrical engineering and computer science. Also, I worked as postdoctoral research fellow at Kyungpook National University, South Korea over 7 months. I am a Member, IEEE and I received the B.tech and M.tech degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from JNTUH Hyderabad, India, in 2012, and 2016, respectively, and received the Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Patna, India, in 2021 under the supervision of Dr. Ranjan Kumar Behera.
I was the recipient of the 2022 IEEE Outstanding Paper Award for the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics (https://iten.ieee-ies.org/journal-award-paper/2023/an-improved-open-phase-fault-tolerant-dtc-technique-for-five-phase-induction-motor-drive-based-on-virtual-vectors-assessment ). Infact, this paper was the first paper from India to receive this award since award was established in the year 1997. Also I received the best poster presentation award in RSD-2020 from the Indian Institute of Technology Patna.
Research Area
My research interests include power electronic converters, modulation techniques for power converters, control of electrical drives, modulation strategies for multiphase motor drives and fault-tolerant direct torque control, electric vehicle control, and its fault-tolerant operation, fault-prediction based on AI/ML, GaN/SiC based converter design for multiphase motor drives.

A paper entitled "Direct Torque Control of Five-Phase Induction Motor Drives with xy Current Regulation Under an Open-Phase Fault-Condition" has been ACCEPTED for presentation at the 2023 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE) to be held in Nashville, Tennessee May 2023.
One of my co-authored paper "Comparison of SVPWM Techniques under Switching Loss Control for Induction Motor Drive with LC filters", has been recommended for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications-December 2022.
Presented an Invited talk on " Multiphase machines for EV applications", in a 5-days FDP at Sasi Institute of Technology & Engineering, Near Aerodrome, Tadepalligudem, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh Dec 19th, 2022.
Visited MNIT Jaipur, Rajasthan to present a conference paper at the IEEE PEDES-2022.
Presented an Expert Lecture on " Multiphase machines and their fault-tolerant control strategies under fault condition", at BHEL R&D, Hyderabad, India on Nov 26th, 2022.

Visited Brussels, Belgium to present a conference paper at the IEEE IECON-2022 at Brussels Square Center and to attend the IEEE IES award ceremony during Oct 17- 21 Oct 2022.
One of my paper entitled "Multiswitch Fault-detection for VSI fed Multiphase Motor Drive Based on Machine Learning" got accepted in the PEDES-2022 Conference and will be held at MNIT Jaipur in December 2022.
One of my co-authored paper "Modified Single Phase Shift Control of DAB Converter for Fast Dynamic Response Under Various Disturbances", got accepted at the IEEE IECON-2022 conference, Brussels, Belgium, in August 2022.
