Dr. Aziz Emmanuel Eliya Al-Zebari was born in 1950 in Aqra, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. He is married with finve children. He currently lives in Ankawa, Erbil.

Languages: Syriac, Arabic, Kurdish, and English.

He got his BA in English language and literature from the Department of European Languages, College of Arst, Mosul University (1975), MA in linguistics from the Dept. of Translation, Dept. College of Arts, Mosul University (1990), and Ph. D. in linguistics (Endangered Languages) from the Dept. of English, College of Lnaguages, Salahaddin University (2018)

Social Activities:

- Member of the Iraqi Translators Union.

- Chairman of Nineveh Social Club, (a local NGO).

- Editor, Al-Bushra Journal, published by Virgin Mary’s Church / Mosul.

- Editor in Chief, Mawtwa Ammaya Journal, A Quarterly published by the Chaldean, Syriac Assyrian Popular Council (CSAPC) (2010-2012)

- Member of the Editorial Board/ Simtha Quarterly Journal of Syriac Language, Literature and Heritage 2007 till the present,

- Vice president of Hadyab Society for Academic Competencies since 2014.
