Dr. An Nguyen, has lived with a physical disability since childhood, is a dedicated academic and educator with over 17 years of experience in research and university teaching. She has been a passionate advocate for disability inclusion in Vietnam through both scholarship and practice. She currently works as a Research Assistant at Monash University. Formerly serving as a casual Research Officer for the Global Dementia Project at Monash University, a full time researcher and lecturer at Binh Duong University (Vietnam), and a senior researcher at SETESU (Vietnam). Dr. Nguyen holds a PhD in Anthropology (Monash University) and dual Master’s degrees in Health Sciences and Sociology. Her interdisciplinary expertise spans anthropology, health, gender, and disability studies. She has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses, designed inclusive curricula, coordinated tutorials, and mentored diverse student cohorts. Through her Academic Tutoring Services, she continues teaching and mentoring younger scholars worldwide. Dr. Nguyen’s research skills are proficient in qualitative and quantitative research, which are evident in her impactful publications, including articles in Disability and Society and Sexuality and Disability. Her research interests encompass disability, women’s health, sexual and reproductive health, aging, and dementia. During her work, she possesses excellent experience in collaborations with multiple stakeholders, such as health providers, NGOs, government agencies, etc.
