Chess and personal interests
I am former U.P. State Chess Champion and an internationally rated player, viewing chess as a bridge between strategic diplomacy and mathematical foresight.
I continue to be an internationally rated chess player with my current ELO rating being 2211. I was U.P. State Chess Champion (1976), joint winner of the Delhi Chess Championship (1977, 1982), and Kuala Lumpur Champion (1979).
In 1981, I won the prestigious Selangor Open International Chess Tournament,
I was awarded a special medal by the Lebanese Chess Federation for drawing a chess with the then reigning world chess champion Anatoly Karpov in May 1999.
