Please follow each Onboarding Task below in sequence and make sure you have completed ALL these tasks BEFORE you get in your car to head to Gerlach. In fact, most of these need to be completed as SOON as you are accepted onto a crew for this year!
Please understand that a lot of these tasks are tied to large, moving parts and will always take longer than you want it to until the momentum hits and carries it away faster than we anticipate.
This form is for:
NEW RECRUITS! People who have never been DPW or NVO before and don't have a crew yet.
People you met who are interested!
That group of folk that seem cool!
This is the DPW Application. This is a public link and can be shared far and wide! All the same, we hope that you still use your best judgement on who to encourage to apply- we're not just building an event, we're also curating a community. <3
This is for new or returning DPW who are looking for the best way to get ahold of a DPW Crew Manager to discuss joining their crew. If you see a team that looks interesting to you, send an email to that Manager, strike up a conversation and let them know you're interested!
This form is for:
Veteran DPW who wants to sign up for 2025 and be put into the Recruiting pool
Veteran or New DPW if you have been direct recruited onto a DPW CREW for 2025

PRE & POST BRC :
Have you been cleared by your Manager to arrive pre-Fence Day? Check out the Early Operations Informational to learn more about the Three Villages and what to expect. Some of the details around this are still being nailed down, so please have patience and when in doubt, ask your Manager.
BRC STAFF CAMP PLACEMENT :
Staying in the DPW Ghetto, Utility Village, Construction Village, HEaT or another Crew Specific Pod? You should be talking to your Manager about camping plans ASAP! Get the dimensions of your shelter ready to share! This is also how we know how much power and shade we need to setup so don't delay!
If you are staying in a staff crew pod that is different from where your DPW crew camps, make sure you are having these conversations with both your Manager AND your Camp Pod Host so they can coordinate your stay. Don't wait!

It used to be that the VFG was something everyone filled out as part of their arrival- NOT THIS YEAR! The VFG is ONLY for folks who are visiting Gerlach on Burning Man business the rest of the year. If you are looking for a link to the VFG, please ask your manager for it.

We encourage all DPW to register with HIVE and check out some of the great, thought-provoking courses offered here that we would love to encourage you all to take and get involved in the discussions of discovering how these topics apply in all our lives.

Dog/Cat Owners are Strongly Discouraged to bring their dog/cat to the DPW Season or Burning Man.
If you have a cat, plan on getting approval from your Council Member & Chaos, and plan on keeping it inside your approved living space. It is highly encouraged for every pet owner in this program to bring a crate in case of emergency, and always have a back-up plan for where your pet can stay, and who will be your accountability-buddy.
This is a program developed to offset the hardship of our long work and volunteer seasons away from home. This is not for fun. This is a privilege that must be applied for year after year and takes a lot of personal control, dedication, responsibility and accountability. Not everyone who applies receives a permit, and that permit may be revoked at any point throughout any season if misconduct occurs or rules are broken.
This is a serious undertaking- please only apply if you are committed to following all the rules, protocols and behavior standards and have already gotten permission from your Manager to do so.
You should be a DPW person in good standing to use this form for :
- People you personally are vouching for. This means you know them fairly well and would consider them a friend or good acquaintance;
- People you meet that are interested and seem like they could be exceptional additions and you want to flag their application/ volunteer questionnaire for DPW Personnel.
